Large Handheld Dispenser for Foam and Drop Spraying - Weed Killer Kit
Green Shoots offers great solutions to targeting herbicides to the plant and out of the air.
Extremely satisfied with my purchase. I bought a few tools and herbicides to deal with some knotweed in my backyard. Tools were of high quality. I had a question about my order and the Green Shoots team was extremely communicative and helped me figure it out. Can’t recommend this brand enough for weed management products!
A while ago I got the "scissors like" applicator with sponges from Nice Green Lawn - I thought it was the best thing out there, until I found GreenShoots! Called the owner because the package was missing directions and the guy was very helpful, friendly and willing to chat. I told him that I got their competitor brand tools and hated them - especially the gel like substance that smeared all over the bordering grass.
Green Shoots is an easy foam applicator without risking any accidents of killing surrounding grass. I only hope that I will never lose the black straws that came with it lol .
Injecting knot weed to kill it- looks like it’s working!
Using a pesticide is never our first choice of control if we can use physical labor to control an aggressive plant, but an advancing Black Locust tree stand on our new land made us draw the line. Last year we cut the full grown trees and painted the cut stumps with Triclopyr using a brush. This was very effective, but we knew sprouts along the widespread root system would show up this year.
When we discovered this sprayer product and read the extensive information available on this website, we knew we had a better way to use the absolute minimum of chemical to achieve our goals. This device, coupled with the blue foaming agent, made it easy for one person to make the cut while the other person held the sapling, pulled it away, and immediately applied Triclopyr onto the cut stump. The blue dye helped me know where I had already been. The tube that emerges from the sprayer is stiff, so you can target your stump easily.
It's impossible to prevent some chemical from accidentally getting onto your clothing. I wore those lime green bib pants the highway department guys wear. Thorns rarely penetrate them and they are repellent so chemical doesn't soak through. I wore a leather glove on the hand that held the saplings and a nitrile glove inside a dishwashing glove on the sprayer hand.
Thanks for making a well-designed, durable, field-ready product that helps us get the work done in an efficient manner using the least amount of chemical possible!
The foaming agent and dispenser kit are easy to operate, and provides a range of uses to meet to meet a variety of needs for precision and treatment area size. Customer service was timely - there was an error message at checkout that the product was not deliverable to my location, and Jeanette and John responded same-day to ensure an easy shipping process.
We're using the kit to treat a 1/3 acre lot in an urban setting with small to medium sized patches of knotweed, bittersweet, tree of heaven and bindweed. The kit has performed perfectly for our needs, and the videos on the GreenShoots Youtube channel have been very helpful. We're looking forward to seeing the results next spring!
I ordered the injector kit from Green Shoots after several years of trying various herbicides and cutting strategies to eradicate Knotweed with little success. The kit arrived within days, the package instructions made it very easy to set up and use. The Green Shoots website discusses the best time to use the injector in the rather short period between the end of flowering and first frost, along with how and where to inject stalks is best so the herbicide gets to the rhizomes and root base that can be 10’ deep as the Knotweed draws nutrients back into the roots for next season growth.
It took about a week following injection and foliage spraying before the leaves started turning yellow, indicating the herbicide was functioning. I reapplied foliage spray about 2-weeks after the initial treatment and reached some large stalks that missed injection the first . That also took about a week for visible results. Once winter is done I will remove the dead stalks from each of the stands and follow the Green Shoot instructions for early season treatment, followed by late season injections.
This can be a multi-year process to fully eradicate Knotweed, likely followed by close inspection for a while after that to be sure none of the plant survives. Patience being the ultimate tool in this process. Injection appears to be the best delivery method to a plant and it’s root system that resists most any other technique. However, initial results are welcome to see and every indication is full eradication over the next year or so with the use of the Green Shoots injection system.
I witnessed my spouse carefully drilling small holes in the stalk of Japanese Knotweed plants and it looked pretty effortless. It was easier than I thought it would be.
Nothing else needs to be said. I would highly recommend purchasing from Green Shoots.
